The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army announced on Monday morning that the troops fighting in the Kherson direction are maintaining their positions on the left (eastern) bank of the Dnieper and are conducting operations there against Russian artillery. They also fire at the rear of the Russian troops.
“In the Kherson direction, the defense forces are still maintaining their positions on the left bank of the Dnieper. They are still conducting counter-battery fighting (i.e. they are fighting the enemy’s artillery with artillery fire – ed.) and are firing at the enemy’s rear,” reads the headquarters’ message on Facebook.
As previously reported by Natalia Humeniuk, spokeswoman for the Ukrainian troops in the south of the country, the army pushed the Russians back to a distance of 3 to 8 km east of the Dnieper bank. Thus, the right bank, which is under Kiev’s control, is no longer within the range of Russian mortars. Russia maintains several tens of thousands of soldiers in the areas of the Kherson Oblast located on the left bank of the Dnieper.
