Head of the Pentagon: Together with our allies, we will continue to support Ukraine
The head of the Pentagon made this statement after meeting President Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to the Ukrainian capital. Austin’s arrival was not announced in advance.
“I had the honor of meeting with President Zelensky in Kiev today to reaffirm the United States’ unwavering support for Ukraine. We, along with our allies and partners, will continue to support Ukraine’s immediate battlefield needs and long-term defense requirements,” Austin wrote on X platform
The US Minister of Defense arrived in Kiev before the meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine (the so-called Ramstein group), which is responsible for coordinating arms aid for Kiev, Zelensky’s office explained.

The President of Ukraine informed the American delegation about the situation on the front and listed the needs of the troops fighting there. “The need for the allies to continue uninterrupted supplies of the necessary weapons and ammunition was emphasized,” the statement said.

Zelensky noted that it is necessary to strengthen his country’s defense capabilities against the upcoming cold weather. During the meeting with Austin, the issue of grain corridors in the Black Sea was also discussed.
“It is very important that we have managed to achieve progress in establishing control over the Black Sea and ensuring the operation of an alternative humanitarian route (for transporting grain). This allows Ukraine to remain a guarantor of global food security,” President Zelensky said.
