On Thursday in Košice, Slovakia, a summit of the heads of governments of the Visegrad Group countries is held. Prime Minister Morawiecki he said at a joint press conference that in recent months some people have looked at the Visegrad Group through the prism of what makes individual countries different. However, he assured, the Russian aggression against Ukraine did not break ties within the V4.

Morawiecki stated that in connection with Russian attacks on Ukrainian critical infrastructure and with the coming winter the probability of another wave of refugees from Ukraine is growing.

He emphasized that the prime ministers of the Visegrad Group countries agreed that the European Commission should provide more assistance to countries that have incurred significant costs in helping Ukrainians. – The coming months may be very, very difficult, because winter is coming and the Russians are deliberately bombing the energy infrastructure, depriving people in Ukraine of electricity and heat, and leading to a humanitarian drama – said the Prime Minister.

– Money from the EU, from Brussels – and this is our common opinion – should flow to our countries in a much larger stream – said Morawiecki.

He is of the same opinion Viktor Orbán. – If the war in Ukraine lasts a long time, the migration wave will increase – said the Prime Minister of Hungary. He added that “the point is for the EU to take on at least part of this burden.”

In his speech, Orban also spoke about the future Sweden and Finland in the North Atlantic Alliance. “Regarding NATO, the government has decided – and we have informed Sweden and Finland – that Hungary supports the membership of these two countries in NATO,” Orban declared. Sweden and Finland are still waiting for the ratification of accession by the Hungarian Parliament.

Mateusz Morawiecki was to have his share in convincing Orban. – I asked Prime Minister Viktor Orban to ratify the possibility of Finland and Sweden joining NATO as soon as possible. I have been promised that at the first parliamentary session of the coming year, in just over a month, this ratification will take placeso there is a specific date, there is a commitment on the part of Hungary – said the head of the Polish government.
