The drama took place on Sunday, November 20, in the Dolomites in the province of Trento, Italy, at the top of Punta del Comedon. A 26-year-old tourist went to the mountains with her friends. They covered the route from the top of Punta del Comedon (at an altitude of 2325 m above sea level) towards Passo del Comedon (2130 m above sea level).

“Il Gazzettino” describes that friends of the 26-year-old heard a “terrible scream” at one point. As the woman fell into the abyss, there was nothing they could do. They immediately alerted the emergency services. Due to the terrain, a rescue helicopter was sent to help the 26-year-old woman.

After arriving at the scene of the accident, rescuers located the woman’s body, which was on the slope of the mountain. The woman probably slipped on the ice and fell from a height of about 50 m. Mountain rescuers took the friends of the tragically deceased tourist from the trail, and returned for her body the next day.

No words can ease the suffering of the mother, younger sister and friends at this time in this family already deeply affected by the past. I want to express my sincere condolences from the entire city community who joins in an embrace with their great pain – said mayor Viviana Fusaro, quoted by The Miami Herald.
