Karl Pfeffer testifies in court
On Tuesday (December 28, 2022), a trial began in front of the District Court in Warsaw, which may be one of the most interesting trials since Kajetan P. According to investigators, the 29-year-old was supposed to suffocate with a pillow and then dismember the body of Gretchen († 68). – The man is accused of committing the crime of murdering his mother Gretchen and of stealing the above-mentioned cash in the amount of not less than PLN 2.5 thousand – said prosecutor Aleksandra Skrzyniarz from the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office. It all started with reports of FBI agents searching the Narew and Wisła rivers in the fall of 2021. At that time, the action was shrouded in mystery.
The FBI was looking for a body in the river
Finally, “Super Express” reached the details of the investigation. US federal agents, in consultation with the Polish police, have been investigating the death of US citizen Gretchen Evita († 68) and her son Karl (also of dual Polish-American citizenship) for many months. A few years ago, after the death of her American husband, the woman moved with her son to Poland. Gretchen disappeared in April 2020 and suspicion immediately fell on her son. As “Super Express” found out, in October 2020 Karl left for the USA. According to the US court records we have obtained, Karl confessed to his half-sister that he killed his mother and threw them in pieces in the river. He smothered his mother with a pillow, cut them up and threw the pieces into the river. The investigation also revealed shocking preparations: “Karl P. bought a hand saw, tape, bags, grease and 5 m of fencing in the Arkadia shopping center on April 1.” And on April 3, he drove up to the Piłsudski bridge on the Vistula near Kazuń three times. It was from there in suitcases that he was to throw away his mother’s body. “On April 12 and 13, FBI agents interviewed Karl, during which he confessed to murdering his mother, including dumping her dismembered body in the Vistula.”
On Tuesday, December 28, Karl Pfeffer was brought from detention to the first hearing before the Warsaw District Court. The trial will be circumstantial because Gretchen’s body has never been found. But his first words of the accused leave no doubt…
Karl Pfeffer in court: I buried my mother in the river
When asked by the court whether he confessed to the charges against him, he first replied: “Relatively.” He added: “If the court offers me terms to negotiate, I can plead.” After that, he was even more shocking!
– I made you dig a river through me. Let me admit that I buried the body in the river and explain why this person is dead. It was a complicated process. I wish I could go home and have a nice beach house. But if you give me a choice between a junk jail in Poland and modern prisons in the US, I prefer to confess everything to the FBI. – I want to confirm and confess to the body buried in the river. I gave you the exact location,” Gretchen’s son said at the trial.
He dismembered his mother because…
– I don’t care about my damn family and their opinion. If I were to say what my mother did in the USA, she would be publicly executed. She would be crucified in Seattle. I have hundreds of good relationships all over the world. Only the relationship with my mother was the only one that turned sour. She was the only person who cared about me and at the same time robbed me. She went from being totally cultured and friendly to being absolutely vulgar. This has been my whole life … – continued Karl Pfeffer in court. And he concluded: – The reason why something like this happened between me and my mother is a bad relationship with her and my character. I don’t want to be treated as a murderer and a psychopath. Honestly, I want to go back to the beach. I am not a threat to society,” he said.
-I threw it in the river in six packages
Asked by the court about the details of this macabre crime, Karl did not spare them. – I confirmed that I threw the body from the Piłsudski Bridge in six packages. I drove three times. There was no witness there. I had two suitcases with me. I came by taxi. I tipped the Uber driver. He was a little late but he was nice. I went to Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki to bury my mother. To throw away the corpse. The packages that I threw into the Vistula River were very well sealed. No smells. No leaks. I bought so many fragrances and air fresheners that my luggage smelled of mint like an ordinary tourist – the accused tells the court…
And this is only the first trial…
