The acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft is the largest transaction in the history of the gaming industry. It is therefore not surprising that such a complex operation is thoroughly examined by control authorities around the world – including the UK. According to local specialists, the contract may harm competition on the gaming market.
He decided to comment on the whole situation Microsoft’s president, Satya Nadella. In an interview with Bloomberg confirmed that he is sure that the transaction will be finalized.
Of course every takeover of this magnitude has to pass scrutiny, but we feel very, very confident and think we’ll make it out alive – he said in an interview with journalists.-
“If it’s a competition, let us compete“Nadella added, thus implying that Sony cannot prevent Microsoft from competing. The CEO stated that the Japanese company is the greatest force in the gaming industry, while Microsoft is actually in the fourth or fifth position (depending on the counting method, via MSPoweruser). You can watch Nadella’s statement below.
The American company also confirmed that after completing the purchase of Activision Blizzard, it will not rest on its laurels and will continue to target further acquisitions on the market.
Concerns about the anti-competitive nature of the merger revolve around brands such as Call of Dutythat have the potential to become exclusive to Microsoft platforms. Phil Spencer from Xbox has already confirmed that he would like to keep Coda as a cross-platform franchise, while adding its titles to the Xbox Game Pass service.
We will probably have to wait a little longer for the end of the whole thing. We are extremely curious to see who will be successful in this situation.
