3 million zlotys will go to refugees from Ukraine who live in 15 municipalities in Opole. This is another action of the Tzu Chi foundation from Taiwan, which this time will donate 3,000 cards, each worth 1,000 zlotys. People who will receive help were indicated by local governments.

As the representative of the foundation Radosław Atlas explains, refugees will be able to use the support in various ways.

“Only an adult can hold this card,” says Atlas. – It can be used in all retail outlets that support Mastercard and Visa. You can also withdraw cash from it at an ATM. These people were appointed by municipalities and it depends on how the municipalities approached it. We know that mothers with children are a large group.

– We are pleased with the further support of the foundation, because our possibilities of help are running out – emphasizes Arkadiusz Wiśniewski, Mayor of Opole. – Here we have something that deserves the highest praise. It is helping people from Taiwan. We could say what they are interested in in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict and the war brought about by Putin. And they come a second time with a bag of money. The sum of their aid will amount to PLN 6 million.

The mayor of Niemodlin, Dorota Koncewicz, emphasizes that although the number of refugees is decreasing, support for them is still very much needed.

– The nature of the aid provided is changing – says Koncewicz. – Today we are at such a stage that we have secured some jobs. This is especially true for those who do not have small children to take care of. Some refugees become independent, but they need to find housing. This is what we are facing now.

The cards will be issued – starting tomorrow (July 26) – for four days at the Stegu Arena. Refugees selected by the communes to receive such support will be transported to Opole by coaches.

Let us recall that as part of the first action, aid worth a total of PLN 2.5 million was provided to 1,300 people.
