In the world of mixed martial arts, news of Bellator being acquired by the Professional Fighters League has generated a lot of interest. After months of speculation and reports, the deal was finalized, opening a new chapter in the history of MMA.
Founded in 2008, Bellator, known for its Grand Prix tournaments and stars such as Fedor Emelianenko and Cris Cyborg, has for years been considered the second largest MMA organization in the world, second only to the giant – UFC. In turn, the Professional Fighters League, established in 2018 after the reorganization of the World Series of Fighting, quickly gained importance thanks to its innovative tournament format and stars such as Jake Paul (more HERE) or Francis Ngannou.
Donn Davis, founder of PFL, announced that the Bellator brand will be retained as an independent product under the name Bellator International Champions Series. The series will debut in 2024 and will consist of eight fighting events in major cities around the world. This unique combination is intended to create unprecedented champion vs. champion matchups between PFL and Bellator fighters.
Davis emphasized that the acquisition of Bellator by PFL is a milestone in the pursuit of innovation in sports and becoming a co-leader in the industry. The merger of these two organizations means that together they have 30 percent of the best fighters in the world, putting them on par with the UFC.

This change will undoubtedly impact the future of MMA, offering fans new, exciting fights and expanding the global reach of the sport. We look forward to what this new era will bring in the world of MMA. However, it looks like the UFC’s supremacy is coming to an end. It is also worth adding that entities from Saudi Arabia are also involved in PFL, which makes them even more competitive on the market.
