Michał Probierz does not change the narrative and still believes that the match against the Czech Republic was good in our performance and emphasizes that Poland is a pessimistic nation that looks for the negatives and does not focus on the positives.
After the draw with the Czech Republic, the Polish national team no longer has any chance of directly qualifying for the European Championship. However, thanks to the competition regulations, the white and red team will enter the play-offs in March.
At the press conference, Michał Probierz was asked by one of the journalists why, in his opinion, there was such a large discrepancy in the assessment of the match against the Czechs. Because most fans and the media believe that it was a poor match, and the players and the coach emphasize that they played a good match.
– We, Poles, often think that the rest of the world is cucumbers and cannot play football. We think we are a country that should regularly do them outplay. I have many friends from different countries and they tell me that we are playing very well, but we are lacking in creating opportunities and taking advantage of them. We (Poles – note) are inclined to say “no”. We were very well prepared for the match against the Czech Republic and from the very beginning we were able to impose our aggressiveness, we resisted, scored a goal, did not take advantage of the next moment and fell asleep when the goal was scored. There are definitely a lot of positives – Probierz emphasized.
– The problem is that we do not have players who regularly play in top clubs. The rest has yet to come to that. I understand many journalists who want stability, but the situation of many players has changed and they do not play regularly – added.
According to many, Robert Lewandowski played a very poor match against the Czechs. There was often an opinion that he was the worst player on the pitch and should be replaced, but he played the full 90 minutes. Michał Probierz does not agree with these voices. – I do not agree with the opinion that the match against the Czech Republic was terrible for Robert Lewandowski. We often cannot play the last pass. I’m a bit surprised at the hate towards Lewandowski – said the coach.
-– Now we have to help Robert get back on track. It’s also difficult for him because he came back from injury. He created a lot of opportunities when other players had a lot of freedom. A striker is assessed for goals and if Lewandowski had scored a goal, we would have assessed him differently – added
