Tennis fans are willing to do a lot just to be able to see their favorites in action live. One of the fans decided to travel to Cancun at the last minute. Thanks to this, he could experience emotions during the last day of the WTA Finals 2023.

It started with a simple question on the X platform (formerly Twitter). Ellen Perez, who reached the doubles final with Nicole Melichar-Martinez, had several tickets to give away for Monday’s final matches. Participants often receive tickets that they can give to, for example, people close to them.

The Australian’s question was answered by one of the fans who was just at the stage of planning a trip to Cancun. On social media, he described in detail the path he traveled to be able to watch the finals of the Tournament of Champions live.

First he flew to El Salvador, from where he went to Guatemala. On Monday morning he was already in Cancun and after passing the border control, he checked in at 1:30 p.m. in the court stands. Just as the doubles final was starting.

The lucky fan first watched the match in which Perez and Martinez-Melichar lost to the German-Russian pair Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva 4:6, 4:6 (more here). Then he saw the great victory of Iga Świątek over the American Jessica Pegula (6:1, 6:0) in the singles final (more here).

After the meeting, he had the opportunity to see the Pole and get her autograph. As he said, this was the third time he had experienced this. The two previous meetings with the current leader of the WTA rankings were to change a lot in his life.

“Thank you to Ellen Perez, the airport staff in El Salvador, the wonderful people of Cancun and my work schedule for making this a day worth remembering forever,” the fan wrote.
