Although the rivals announced that the Monaco GP was the perfect opportunity to beat Red Bull, the second F1 practice was held under the dictation of Max Verstappen. However, the crowd at the forefront is considerable and it seems impossible to identify the favorite of the qualifiers at the moment.
The first Formula 1 practice before the Monaco Grand Prix showed that this year’s dominance of Red Bull Racing in the principality could be interrupted, as Ferrari and Mercedes drivers showed good pace. However, the second session on the street circuit in Monte Carlo showed that the “red bulls” can be extremely fast even in a less friendly environment.
While Max Verstappen in the first session repeatedly complained about the behavior of the Red Bull car, the afternoon runs were from the beginning for the Dutchman, who turned up the pace and dictated the conditions. In the end, a time of 1:12.462 gave him first place.
Among the Ferrari drivers, Carlos Sainz led the weekend with the Monaco GP much better than Charles Leclerc. However, in the last minutes of the session, a lot has changed. First, the Monegasque improved the result of his teammate, and after a while the driver from Madrid crashed into the barrier and raised a red flag. Damage to the Spaniard’s machine prevented him from continuing his journey.

-Fernando Alonso had good times throughout the session, although the Aston Martin driver was blocked on one of the fast laps. Therefore, the final position of the Spaniard may not reflect the full potential of the team from Silverstone. The 41-year-old could still make a surprise in Saturday’s qualifying for the Monaco GP.
In the second practice of F1, Mercedes was a bit behind. Only sixth time was achieved by Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell was twelfth.
