Manchester United is already sure of playing in the Champions League in the 2023/2024 season. On Thursday evening, the “Red Devils” did not give Chelsea much of a chance, beating the Londoners 4-1. As a result, they moved up to third place in the table.

Erik ten Hag’s side needed just one point from their last two games to return to the Champions League after a year off. Chelsea, however, were close to taking the lead quickly at Old Trafford.

At the very beginning of the second half, the hosts tried to follow the blow. After the shot, Bruno Kepa was saved by the connection of the post with the crossbar. After Eriksen’s strike, the Spanish goalkeeper was up to the task.

In the 71st minute, in a completely harmless situation, Wesley Fofana fouled Bruno Fernandes in the penalty area. The victim himself used the “eleven” without any problems. This was not the end of Fofana’s mistakes.

After a while, the Chelsea defender in his own penalty area basically passed the ball to his rivals, and Marcus Rashford increased the score to 4:0. It was the 30th goal of the season for the Englishman. Later, Garnacho was close to scoring, but after a ricochet the ball hit the crossbar. In the end, Joao Felix scored an honorable goal for “The Blues”.

Manchester United’s victory saw the Red Devils return to third place in the Premier League. Together with Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle, they will also play in the next edition of the Champions League. Liverpool will be absent in the latter competition.
