A 31-year-old resident of Lower Silesia was driving against traffic on the A4 motorway. Another driver stopped him. It turned out that the man was drunk and the car he was traveling in illegally did not belong to him. – He stole a car and drove it towards Złotoryja. On his way back, however, he made a mistake and entered the highway, police inform. Now the 31-year-old faces up to eight years in prison.

A few days ago, at night, the police officer on duty from Złotoryja received a report from a driver who was traveling on the A4 motorway towards Wrocław. – He said that between the Lubiatów and Złotoryja junctions he stopped a delivery vehicle that was driving against the traffic on the highway – reports Junior Asp. Dominika Kwakszys from the Złotoryja police. He adds that after noticing the driver driving erratically, the man “safely stopped his car”, ran up to the Ford driver and took the keys out of the ignition.

With three per mille against the current on A4

– The police tested the driver, a 31-year-old Ford driver, for alcohol content in the exhaled air. The device showed over three per mille. The man was detained and the car secured – describes Kwakszys. It turned out that the car did not belong to the 31-year-old. According to the policewoman, the man “took advantage of the fact that the owner left the keys in the car, stole the car and drove it towards Złotoryja.” – On the way back, however, he made a mistake and entered the highway – adds Kwakszys.

The 31-year-old was charged with two counts: taking for the purpose of short-term use of an unsecured vehicle and causing an immediate danger of a disaster in land traffic by driving under the influence and entering the wrong-way lane of a highway. By court decision, he was arrested for two months. Now he faces up to eight years in prison.
