Sejm on Tuesday after 12 resumed the first session of the new term, which had been interrupted last week. During the meeting, votes were cast on candidates for the State Tribunal. Earlier, representatives of parliamentary clubs agreed on the division of seats in the Tribunal. PiS is to fill seven seats, Civic Coalition – six, PSL – two, and Poland 2050, Left and Confederation one each.
The judge of the State Tribunal is elected by the Sejm by an absolute majority of votes in the presence of at least half of the statutory number of deputies. According to the constitution, the Constitutional Tribunal consists of the chairman, two deputy chairman and 16 members elected by the Sejm from outside the group of deputies and senators for the duration of the term of office of the Sejm; the chairman of the Court of Justice is the first president of the Supreme Court.
