Three new councilors were sworn in at Tuesday’s session of the Masovian Voivodeship Assembly. They replaced councilors who became MPs. Wiesława Krawczyk will replace councilor Mirosław Orliński, Aleksandra Śmietanka will replace Piotr Kandyba and Elżbieta Woźniak-Sionek will replace Marcin Grabowski.

After the parliamentary elections, the mandates of councilors who became MPs or senators expired. By law, they do not have to submit any declarations. They are no longer councilors by operation of law and cannot withdraw from this position. They also cannot “get” their mandate back if they wanted to.

By the decision of the Electoral Commissioner of October 24, the mandates of councilors: Marcin Grabowski (PiS), Piotr Kandyba (Civic Platform), Mirosław Adam Orliński (Trzecia Droga) expired. At Tuesday’s session of the Masovian Voivodeship Assembly, Elżbieta Woźniak-Sionek (PiS), Aleksandra Śmietanka (PO) and Wiesława Krawczyk (PSL).

The expiry of a councilor’s mandate on the day of election as a deputy or senator is confirmed by the competent electoral commissioner by way of a decision within 14 days from the election day. This decision is published in the voivodeship official journal and made public in the Public Information Bulletin.

The vacant seat is filled by another person who ran in the last local government elections for a given unit from the same list of candidates from which the person whose mandate expired ran.
