The members of the Economic Area Development Council met for the fifth time. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Mielec branch of the Industrial Development Agency in Mielec, and the meeting was chaired by Marshal Władysław Ortyl, who is the chairman of the council.

During the meeting, the 5th anniversary of the functioning of the Polish Investment Zone was summarized – a support instrument that was to replace the principles of operation of Special Economic Zones. Waldemar Barnaś, director of the Mielec branch of the ARP, talked about this. Since 2018, 171 support decisions have been issued here, and investors have declared investments worth PLN 6.3 billion and the creation of 3,651 jobs.

Waldemar Barnaś also talked about the plans and ongoing investments of the Mielec branch of the Industrial Development Agency, including: on the construction of a production and warehouse hall for rent by entrepreneurs at ul. Sołtyka in Mielec and a recently opened similar hall at ul. Kaczorowski in Krosno.

The director also provided information on the activities of the area manager in the context of the armed conflict in Ukraine, especially in the field of cooperation with business environment institutions and local governments. Most questions were asked during the meeting in this context.

An important point of the meeting was the presentation on the project “Industry Skills Center – human resources for the aviation industry”, which was discussed by Lilla Boroń from the Mielec branch of the Industrial Development Agency. In turn, Paweł Wais, director of the Regional Development Department of the UMWP, presented the possibilities of financing research and development activities in the regional program European Funds for Podkarpacie 2021-2027.

The Economic Area Development Council has been operating since 2019. Its main role is to provide opinions on matters relating to running a business in the area and to propose courses of action to improve the business environment and the socio-economic development of the area.
