As reported by RMF FM, the European Commission on Tuesday, November 21, approved the payment of EUR 5 billion in advance to Poland from the amended National Reconstruction Plan. EU commissioners are expected to officially announce their decision on this matter today.
According to the radio station, there is little probability that the money will reach Poland this year, but there are many indications that it will arrive in early 2024. The decision of the EU commissioners still needs to be accepted by the Council of Finance Ministers on December 8.
“Rzeczpospolita” was the first to write that the decision on this matter would be made on November 21. Advance payments constitute only 20 percent. the entire amount of EUR 23 billion that Poland requested on August 31. Advance payments do not apply to the so-called super milestones included in the main KPO agreement, which provide for the need to reform the disciplinary system of judges.
