The employee founded a trade union in Sii Poland, providing IT services, and became his chairman. The president of the company did not like the idea, so in an e-mail sent directly to the employee, he stated that the trade union “is not needed by the company”. The creation of the union resulted in the loss of its creator’s job, reports the Union Alternative.
Disciplinary dismissal for establishing a trade union in Poland – this is how one sentence can describe the situation that took place in a company providing IT services. The employee formed a trade union in Sii Poland and encouraged other people employed in the company to join. The move cost him his position. Before the disciplinary dismissal, the founder of the union allegedly received an e-mail from the president in which he expressed dissatisfaction with the creation of the union, reported by the Union Alternative.
“You’ve only been working at Sii for 6 months. You don’t know the company very well, but you’re trying to attack us (…) There is no trade union in the company” he was supposed to write Grégoire Nitot, president of Sii Polska, which is also the owner of the Polonia Warszawa football club, in an e-mail sent to an employee on whose initiative the trade union was established.facebook
“Shortly afterwards, our leader at Sii received a disciplinary dismissal. They were handed over without any procedure, without consulting the union, without referring to any article of the Labor Code. The company’s authorities did not even hide that the reason for the dismissal was founding a union and encouraging employees to they entered him” – reports the Union Alternative.-
Recipes of the Constitution indicate that “the Republic of Poland it ensures the freedom to form and operate trade unions. . . freedom of association in trade unions shall be ensured”. The Trade Unions Act states that: “The right to form and join trade unions is vested in persons engaged in gainful employment.”
The editors of Bankier.pl contacted the press office of Sii Polska with a request for comment on the dismissal of an employee who founded a trade union and was dismissed with immediate effect.
