Researchers had previously selected a place in the cemetery where, according to the collected information, a soldier of the Lublin District of the Home Army, Władysław Bielecki, pseud. Santa Claus. Bielecki was shot on October 24, 1952 in the Penal and Investigative Prison at Wały Jagiellońskie in Bydgoszcz.

We expected the remains of a 25-year-old man, but according to the anthropologist, the remains may belong to a man over 30 years old. However, I think tThis man led an abnormal lifestyle for 7 years, hid in barns, farm buildings, and also had a specific way of eating, so his body could have changed. Next year we will find out whether the found remains belong to Bielecki. In my opinion, it is probable, because historical research shows it. Genetic studies need to confirm this. Often such an identification process takes several months, but in this case we have good genetic material, because his younger brother Edward, who is 77 years old today, is alive.

– said Dr. Alicja Paczoska-Hauke from the IPN Regional Office in Bydgoszcz in an interview with PAP.

Wladyslaw Bielecki b. in 1927 in Pinsk he joined the Home Army and in 1944 in the Biała Podlaska District. From August 1945, he hid for 7 years with farmers in the Lipno poviat. At the end of 1951, his whereabouts were discovered by an agent nicknamed “Bystry”, who handed him over to the Security Office. The manhunt was organized on January 4, 1952 in Kolanków in the Lipno poviat. It was attended by over 30 officers of the UB and the Citizens’ Militia. Bielecki was arrested in the barn where he was hiding. The investigation of the Provincial Office of Public Security in Bydgoszcz ended with a death sentence. The corpse of the soldier was hidden in an unmarked place.

Bielecki’s brother, Edward, has been looking for the remains of his loved ones for years, not only Władysław, but also their father Józef Bielecki, who was shot dead in Lublin on December 19, 1951.
