The premiere of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Birds and Snakes was a success. All sorts of analysts suggested, and sometimes were even certain, that the film would gross over $100 million by the end of the week. As it turned out, they almost succeeded. The US market failed, but the rest of the world caught up.
The film is currently at number one, grossing approximately $41.4 million in the United States over the weekend. The rest of the world hit $54.5 million. The result is below the planned minimum, but the film was nevertheless a successs. People willingly go to the cinema to watch this movie, especially in Latin America.

Thus, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Birds and Snakes outclasses last week’s Marvels. What’s more, it looks like the MCU production will be their worst-selling film, grossing just $161.3 million worldwide (in 10 days). Especially since the trend is clearly downward. Was it a dud?
