The hero of “Shelter Stories” is Cziki, an almost 11-year-old grandfather. Like many of the dogs we talk about in our program, he was placed in a box at a facility after the death of his owner.
Cziki is a small, curious dog about the world and people. He dreams of a new home and love. Many years ago, he was a ward of an animal shelter in Słupsk, from where he was taken by a man who loved him, cared for him and pampered him. Unfortunately, the hopes for a warm couch, a human heart and cuddles burst like a soap bubble. Who knows, maybe his fate will change soon? After all, hope dies last.
– This tiny, “handbag” grandpa actually visited us a few years ago. He was taken in by a man who was his whole world. In fact, the two of them were probably made for each other. Unfortunately, Cziki’s guardian died and in this case there were no relatives who could take care of the dog, although, as you know, families take away dogs or cats after the death of the owner. Cziki came to us and he has a hard time returning to his box – admits Marta Śmietanka, manager of the animal shelter in Słupsk.
