End of winter break. Motorcyclists from Pomerania opened the season with a holy mass in Sobowidz

Pomeranian two-wheelers opened this year’s motorcycle season in Sobowidz. There, the parish priest of the local parish – and also a motorcyclist – priest Krzysztof “Maślak” Masiulanis invited to a holy mass, during which the vehicles were blessed.

Motorcyclists come to this event every year, starting their machines after the winter break. On that day, the sunny weather was good and there was no shortage of two-wheelers. There is no motorcyclist who would not longingly wait for spring to be able to pursue his passion and set off on the road – closer or further.

– We are here every year, We always go to this mass, there is no season without it. This is where it all starts. The season can be demanding at times, which is why we need to dedicate all our ways to God, emphasized the participant.

– We drive about 300, maybe 400 kilometers, drink coffee and come back. Some ask: “What do you see in going so far, how can you drink this coffee somewhere close?” No, that’s the fun of it. There is definitely no coffee like it here, it doesn’t taste like that, one of the enthusiasts joked.

– This is what is missing all winter: the wind in your hair, the sound of exhaust pipes, freedom and blooming rapeseeds. This is something beautiful. The air smells beautiful, we have direct contact with nature here. It is a feeling as if you were in another world – he added, admiring the charms of this hobby.

Father Krzysztof Masiulanis appealed, among other things, for caution, safety and shared passion. He also remembered those who have already disappeared.

– We bring back spring, because the astronomical one is about to start in two days, and motorcyclists are such cool herald birds. We also appeal to drivers to notice us and to road workers not to let the sand lie on the arches after winter, because it is deadly for us, and also to each other to share this passion with those who come to us or beckon us sometimes, but also to God, for his smile and kindness, for him to watch over us in moments when we lack at least a little prudence – he said.

The competition selected the oldest motorcycle that appeared at this event – it was 76 years old. The owner who has owned one and the same machine for the longest time was also awarded. The winner has had it for 37 years. The person who covered the longest distance traveled 118 kilometers from Lniska. The youngest car fan turned out to be a five-year-old, and the oldest was 80 years old.

The official end of the season will take place at the beginning of October in Sierakowice.
