Masks on planes are back. The first country in the world to reintroduce restrictions

-

Brazil was one of the last countries to abolish the two-year obligation to wear face masks, which was only eased in August this year. It turns out that the changes could not be enjoyed for too long. From tomorrow, the order to cover your nose on planes and airports returns.

Brazil reintroduces mandatory face masks on planes

It is worth noting that the restrictions will be restored in a “softer” version. This time, along with mandatory masks, there will be no ban on serving meals during flights (previously, staff could not sell meals or drinks). At the same time, which is quite obvious, passengers will be able to take off their masks for meals.

At the same time, the Brazilian authorities allowed the wearing of ordinary masks (they are not required, as before, masks with N95 or PFF2 filters).

Why the decision to restore some of the restrictions when traveling by plane? This action is somewhat preventative. Brazilian authorities admit that although the number of infections has been increasing in recent weeks, the tightened regulations are related to the “seasonal characteristics of the pandemic”. In recent years, the Ministry of Health has recorded the highest increase in new cases in the period from November to mid-January. There is also increased air traffic during this period (Christmas and school break), which can contribute to even higher infection rates.

As the Fly4free portal notes, the only country in Europe that still requires masks to be worn on planes is Spain. According to current regulations, passengers flying with a Spanish-registered airline must cover their nose and mouth at all times, and in the case of foreign airlines – only on flights to Spain (on the way back it is no longer required).
