The newspaper’s calculations based on monthly reports of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy show that “In total, from the beginning of the year to the end of July, over 140 employers reported collective redundancies involving almost 12.7 thousand people to labor offices. During that time, however, more people lost their jobs, ie 12.9 thousand. “As indicated,” this year’s layoffs, especially those that took place in the first quarter, are largely the result of staff cuts reported in 2021. “

Rzeczpospolita points out that “then until spring the economy was struggling with lockdowns forced by the pandemic.” Large companies made decisions to restructure, including leaving Poland, as a result of market changes caused by the pandemic. Now, behind the restructuring decisions is the war in Ukraine and a sharp increase in the operating costs of enterprises “ – says Łukasz Gajek, director of the consulting company Lee Hecht Harrison Polska, which specializes in outplacement services, i.e. support for dismissed employees, quoted by the daily.

As he said in an interview with the newspaper, in recent months, when companies began to assess the impact of the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis on their operations, the number of inquiries from potential customers has doubledas well as the scale of planned personnel changes.
