The euro exchange rate increased by almost 30 groszy between July 31 and September 12, 2023. This increase meant that last Tuesday one euro cost almost PLN 4.70, which was the highest price level since March this year. Since then, however, the common currency has experienced a slight depreciation, as a result of which, on Monday, September 18, 2023, one euro costs slightly less than PLN 4.64.
The National Bank of Poland increases the EUR/PLN exchange rate
The National Bank of Poland (NBP) has set the exchange rate for the euro (EUR) against the Polish zloty (PLN) on Monday, September 18, 2023 at PLN 4.6377, increasing it from PLN 4.6307 on Friday.
Looking at the quotations of the euro currency pair against the Polish zloty (EUR/PLN), it is worth noting that at the beginning of August this year. the euro exchange rate regained a lot of strength and made up for a significant part of its previous losses.
It is worth recalling that counting from the historical peaks in the first half of March 2022, when one euro cost over PLN 5.00, the common currency has become cheaper by over 60 groszy.
This sale meant that at the end of July this year one euro cost less than PLN 4.40, which was the lowest level since September 2020.
However, as mentioned above, at the beginning of August the euro regained a lot of strength. The quotations of the common currency increased by nearly 30 groszy, returning to the region of PLN 4.70. However, as you can see in the chart below, recent days have brought a slight decline in the common currency rates, as a result of which, at the time of writing this article, one euro costs slightly less than PLN 4.64.
The euro compared to the G8 currencies
As for the condition of the euro relative to the other G8 currencies, it can be seen that the EUR has been weakening since the beginning of the month in relation to the vast majority of major currencies. The common currency gains only against the pound sterling.
